54th Military World Basketball Championship (5x5)
In 2026, France has the honor of hosting the 54th Military World Basketball Championship, which will take place in Bourges from June 27 to July 5, 2026.
Organized by the Military Academy of Defense Sports (AMSD) under the auspices of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), with technical organization entrusted to Air Base 702 Avord, this international event will bring together up to 13 nations, ready to compete for the world title.
Throughout the week, matches will be played at the CREPS Centre-Val de Loire and the Prado sports arena in Bourges, with up to four games per day at each venue. The best men’s and women’s military teams will deliver an intense sporting spectacle combining commitment, excellence, and competitive spirit at the highest level.
All matches will be free and open to the public. Donations may also be made on site in support of military assistance associations.
We look forward to welcoming many spectators throughout the championship to support the teams and experience the unique atmosphere of this international competition. Above all, join us on July 4 at the Prado for the grand finals, the highlight of this exceptional week of elite basketball.

All matches throughout the week at the CREPS and the Prado will be free of charge, except for the finals on Saturday. Don’t forget to register when registration opens for one or both finals.

What is the Defence Solidarity Committee (CED)?
The Defence Solidarity Committee (CED) brings together several organizations dedicated to supporting military personnel, wounded service members, and bereaved families:
- FOSA (Air Force Social Welfare Foundation)
- Entraide Marine (Navy Mutual Support Association)
- Solidarité Défense (Defence Solidarity Association)
- Terre Fraternité-ADO (Army Solidarity Association)
By pooling their expertise and resources, these organizations develop concrete initiatives to support families, assist wounded personnel, provide social aid, and help service members facing difficult circumstances.
The Defence Solidarity Committee is therefore a key actor in fostering solidarity within the Defence community, working every day to uphold human values, strengthen cohesion, and promote mutual support among all those who serve the Nation.
